The Meaning and Importance of the Lavender Rose

For centuries, roses have been a symbol of love and romance. Their delicate and intricate layers of petals release the romantic in every person. During the Victorian era, the rose became a premiere messenger of emotions. People at that time shied away from frank and honest communication. In order to express their feelings, lovers and friends would use flowers. In particular, they chose the rose to communicate their feelings and longings, and roses have been used to indicate specific emotions and to communicate important messages ever since.

Whether in a bridal bouquet, as a centerpiece at a special event, or as a small gift, the lavender rose is a dramatic and beautiful choice. Softer than purple and more unusual than pink, lavender represents refinement, grace and elegance. The lavender rose indicates a gentle, beautiful femininity and a refined love. A 1990 study found that between bright and soft colors, women prefer soft colors. Lavender creates the perfect compromise between purple and pink and has a soothing, romantic aura about it.

While lavender roses are an exotic, beautiful choice on their own, they also create beautiful bouquets when combined with other flowers or rose colors. Pink and lavender roses coupled together create a fanciful combination of playfulness that has subtle undertones of beauty and femininity. A minty green and lavender combination creates a cheerful, refreshing display, particularly in a spring bouquet. For the fall, blue flowers combined with lavender create a cool and sophisticated look. For a very contemporary and earthy look and feel, try lavender with beige and light brown accents.

In addition, lavender roses have other connotations that are equally interesting. Many have come to associate "love at first site" with lavender. If someone you've never met brings you a lavender rose, you'll now know what they are saying! Lavender also implies that the recipient is exotic and unique. The combination of their pale violet color and rich, dramatic fragrance make lavender roses seem exotic and unusual. This dichotomy makes lavender roses a perfect choice to convey feminine charm and sophistication to every woman.

For all of these reasons and so many more, lavender roses make an elegant, graceful choice. For wedding bouquets, they create a soft, feminine look; as a gift to someone you love, they convey refinement, grace and love at first site. Exotic and beautiful, lavender roses are the perfect touch for so many occasions in our lives!
